I was looking to get the new phone on my upcoming trip to the US, but the word is that the phones won't be sold without plan activation any more. So you might be out of options and at the mercy of local providers.

I have a pair of Shure E3Cs that I can recommend heartily. Makes flying a lot less stressful by draining out external noise and provide great sound from your portable music/media player. Great customer support too.

Add a Shure PTH if you don't want to remove the headphones but still be able to listen to external conversation.
